Our Sport programme capitalises on our central London location, and we work with a number of outstanding providers in and around our home in Kensington.

A combination of Physical Education and Games lessons, and our co-curricular programme, enables students to develop skills and techniques across a wide variety of sports, and ensures there is something for everyone to enjoy and excel in.

Physical Education is compulsory for all students in Years 7 to 11 and takes place across one double period per week. P.E. focuses on skill acquisition and implementation, as well as students’ emotional, social and cognitive development. Students improve their technique and performance in both competitive and non-competitive sports, including strength and conditioning training, yoga, gymnastics, and mindfulness.

“Lifelong participation is a cornerstone of our sports philosophy, and our approach is holistic and inclusive. Our aim is to nurture a lifelong passion for sports and fitness, equipping our students with the knowledge and confidence to stay active throughout their lives.”
Mr Ryan Mitchell, Director of Sport

Additionally, all students in the Senior School have a dedicated Games afternoon once per week. Games combines knowledge of sporting theory with practical tactical awareness, introducing students to a range of competitive team sports which change termly. Games is taught on an option basis, with students focusing on a particular pathway: football or netball during autumn; rugby or hockey during spring; and cricket or athletics during summer. For each of the termly pathways, students will participate in competitive events and fixtures within the Independent Schools Association, Westminster London Leagues, and against local competitor schools.

Our Senior School co-curricular programme provides further opportunities for students to pursue their sporting interests. Recent clubs include cycling, fencing, table tennis, kickboxing, football, ice skating, and mindfulness. In the Sixth Form, students can elect to take part in sport as part of their Wednesday afternoon Enrichment programme, and all Sixth Form students have access to a gym membership, which can be used at over 120 gyms across the UK. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is also open to students of all ages.

In the delivery of our sports programme, we leverage the best that London has to offer, working with a number of outstanding local facilities which enhance and augment our curriculum. These include Will to Win in Hyde Park for tennis and netball; the Porchester Centre, which includes access to fitness studios and a 30m swimming pool; Queen’s Skate for ice skating; and the Westway Centre for climbing and Eton Fives. Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park, which are right on our doorstep, provide the perfect setting for running, cycling, and other outdoor activities. This unique aspect of our sport programme not only expands students’ sporting horizons, but introduces them to the diverse cultural and recreational opportunities that central London has to offer.
