SPORT

Sport is an integral part of life at KPS. We offer a broad range of options from universally popular sports such as football, netball and tennis to more specialist ones including fencing, rowing and climbing. This gives every pupil the opportunity to find one or more sports which he or she will really enjoy.

Upon joining KPS, all students will have an induction into the various sporting activities in order to determine which after-school activity they want to focus on for the term.

Health and Fitness Programme

All Lower School pupils take part in a targeted strength & conditioning programme during their PE lessons. As well as our own School Hall, we make use of the excellent facilities adjacent to KPS: cross country training takes place in Kensington Gardens, and swimming lessons are held at Porchester Leisure Centre. We follow the ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) Exercise Testing & Prescription protocols, the guidelines which set the standards for the exercise profession. This allows us to closely monitor pupils’ development and to guide them on particular sporting pathways to ensure they achieve their full sporting potential.

Ethos Sports Centre

All Sixth Form pupils have membership to Imperial College’s Ethos Sports Centre, one of the best sporting facilities in central London and a short walk from the Sixth Form Centre. Outside of lessons, pupils can enjoy a swim in Ethos’s 25-metre pool complex (complete with sauna, steam room and spa pool) and work out in the Energia gym.  This is one of the largest gyms in the capital with state-of-the art equipment including running, cycling and rowing machines, a weights area and a core zone with physiotherapy balls and yoga mats.

Sporting Options

In addition to the activities described here, there are many other options which can be activated with local providers subject to sufficient demand from KPS pupils.
