Joe really enjoyed the Cabries competition this weekend.  It was an exhausting weekend, but Joe learnt lots about adapting quickly to your opponent, and even managed to practise some of his French in the bakery! The fencing was tough, with the American and Japanese teams out in full force, as well as the top French and Russian cadet foilists.

In the individual event, Joe made it through the poules 20% cut and two direct elimination rounds, eventually going out 15-11 in the L64 to an American, Brandon Li (who then went on  to win the bronze medal). Joe finished 59/235 fencers. On Sunday 1st December, Joe was team captain for GBR2 with good results against teams from France and Brazil and there was certainly a great team spirit! Joe has also now been selected for GBR for the individual and team cadet international competition in Bratislava in January, and we wish him the best of luck in these future events.
