LGBT+ History Month at KPS

LGBT+ History Month is a month-long annual celebration of lesbian, gay, bisexual trans, and non-binary history, including the history of LGBT+ rights and related civil rights movements.

In the United Kingdom, it is celebrated in February each year, to coincide with the 2003 abolition of Section 28.

At KPS, our number one aim is to value the individual and so inclusion and acceptance are integral to who we are.

The theme of LGBT+ History Month this year was Mind, Body and Spirit. Students in the Lower School were asked to reflect on what it means to be true to yourself, why everyone has the right to feel safe and valued, and to contemplate the challenges that some people may face just because of who they are.

The badge on this article shows how we chose to represent some of these fantastic responses from our students and highlights that the foundations of KPS are built on respect for every individual, as well as the importance of continual education on rights for all the members of our community.

The responses were overwhelming touching, and we are immensely proud of our students and to part of a school community that is built on treating others with respect.
