Offered at Kensington Park School for the first time, this one-year, intensive programme of study for students aged 15 and 16 has been designed to meet the needs of both international students as they transition to the British education system, and home students transferring from other educational systems or programmes of study. The one-year IGCSE programme provides a platform from which students can progress onto A levels at KPS Sixth Form and, later, to universities in the UK and worldwide.

“The disruption of the pandemic over the last two years has forced many British and international families to postpone or push back their plans to relocate or send their children to the UK for schooling,’ Head of Admissions, Ms Marie Lovett, commented. ‘We have seen a significant increase in the number of students wishing to join the school at 15 years old which is not a traditional entry point in the British system. The introduction of the one-year IGCSE programme will allow us to meet the needs of students who are age-appropriate for entry into Year 11, but whose previous schooling would not allow a direct transition into the second year of the GCSE programme.”

Students on the accelerated IGCSE programme at Kensington Park School will study a total of five IGCSE subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. They will also enjoy a range of non-examined classes in areas such as computing, art, and drama, and a shared programme of PSHE, PE, and Games with other GCSE students. One-year IGCSE students will benefit from full integration into the academic and pastoral life of the school, with access to the broad range of co-curricular clubs and activities that run during and after school.

For those students who are not resident in London, full-boarding is available in the School’s outstanding boarding house within easy reach of the School.
