KPS pupils recently took part in the UK Mathematics Trust’s Intermediate Mathematical Challenge. The challenge is a national test in which more than 300 schools across the UK participated. Students had 60 minutes to answer 25 varied multiple-choice mathematical problems. This year, the UKMT set a particularly challenging test, writing that “The Problems Group aims to set papers of equal difficulty each year, but did not succeed this year with mean score being significantly lower than last year.” However, KPS pupils have been practising for the test every Friday since October, and performed particularly well attaining 3 Gold, 1 Silver and 4 Bronze certificates. Two students from Year 9 and one student from Year 10 have qualified for the next round. It is a great achievement for our pupils.
