Having recently returned from the GB Athlete Development Training camp, it was straight into another busy weekend of competitions for our Lower School pupil, Teagan Williams–Stewart, who has settled well at KPS, juggling academic life alongside her dedicated commitment to fencing.
British Fencing Cadet (U17) National Championships
On Saturday 8 September, Teagan took part in the British Fencing Cadet (U17) National Championships among a field of fifty-seven girls. Seeded number two at the start of the competition, Teagan fenced in a poule of seven girls, winning all six fights and only dropping four points throughout. After poules, Teagan was ranked joint first with an indicator of 26. Teagan received a bye into the last thirty-two and went on to win all of her matches through to the semi-finals. In the finals Teagan fought a fantastic fight but unfortunately lost by a very close 15/14 taking the silver medal. This is a great result for the start of the fencing season.

Junior (U20) Women’s Championships
On the Sunday, Teagan competed in the Junior (U20) Women’s Championships in a field of forty-nine girls. Seeded twenty-first at the start of the competition, Teagan fenced in a poule of seven girls, winning five of six fights. Her indicator after the poules was eleventh. Teagan made it through to the last sixteen where she was defeated 15/14 by a seasoned junior. Her final position was fourteenth. Congratulations are in order, although Teagan – ever the competitor – will always strive to place higher.
