Y12 Pupil Joe Attends U17 Foil Competition

Joe Donaghue, in Year 12, has just returned from the Bratislava U17 cadet foil competition, where he represented GBR in the individual and foil events. In the individual event, Joe came 22/252, which was the best GB foil result of the competition. As if that wasn't enough, this was also a personal best for Joe. He came out of the poules with a full set of six victories and initial seeding of 22.

Joe then made his way through three exciting rounds of direct elimination, until he went out to the eventual French silver medalist in the last 32. Another long and satisfying day fencing followed in the team event on the Sunday, when GBR2 met teams from Belarus, Sweden and the USA. Lots of strong performances were seen from Joe's team, as friendships strengthened. Congratulations goes to Joe for his success in the competition!
