Pastoral Care

Pupils’ physical and emotional well-being is central to them having a happy and fulfilled school life. We aim to balance the individual’s freedom to express and explore the world around them whilst offering appropriate support and guidance within a safe environment.

Pupils have access to a broad range of help and advice from a strong support network which includes their Personal Tutor, their Head of Year, specialist counsellors and the School Nurse as well as other members of staff and peer-to-peer support.

Sixth Formers meet their Personal Tutor twice weekly in their tutor group of up to 12 pupils. There are numerous opportunities during the day for pupils to meet their Personal Tutor for more specific one-to-one advice. There is a culture of openness which helps to establish a welcoming and respectful environment and one which does not tolerate bullying.

There is a comprehensive PSHE programme. In addition, our rigorous policies prohibiting alcohol, drugs and smoking are communicated to pupils and families and are available upon request. The teaching staff hold regular tutorials on internet safety.

Our boarders are able to enjoy a home-from-home environment, benefitting from a stimulating evening and weekend programme of activities.
