Simon Clarke

Teacher of Chemistry and Science Coordinator UK & China

E:

I was born and raised in Gloucestershire where I attended Sir Thomas Rich’s Grammar School before reading Chemistry (MChem.) at St Peter’s College, Oxford. I was awarded a distinction in Aromatic and Heterocyclic Pharmaceutical Chemistry by the university in 2003. When not in lectures and labs, I captained the college Pool team and played on the University Squash Ladder.
From 2005, I taught Chemistry at St Paul’s Boys’ School, where I also coached the 3rd XI Cricket squad and acted as Head of Squash for over ten years. I set up the school’s Synthetic Organic Chemistry Projects Club and taught pupils at all levels up to Oxbridge and Olympiad entry. In 2007, I coached two boys who went on to represent Great Britain in the International Chemistry Olympiad.
In my spare time, I enjoy playing Squash and Racketball at my local club and try to follow the trials and tribulations of English Cricket!
