Abhilasha Aggarwal

Teacher of Mathematics

E:

I still remember receiving my first award of a chess set at school for doing well in mathematics and from here began my passion for the subject. I graduated university with a First class degree in Mathematics and have a Doctorate in History of Mathematics. I mark papers for Edexcel, volunteer for the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust and STEM, and I am a Governor of a local primary school.

In my last role, I was working at Portland Place School as a mathematics teacher and a UKMT Coordinator. Throughout my teaching career I have run ‘one minute’ mental maths competitions where students compete against each other to achieve the highest score within 60 seconds, which have proved immensely popular with my students.

I love doing puzzles, reading and watching horror and crime. My friends and colleagues usually describe me as exuberant and a mathematics addict!
