sixth form

Our pupils will generally select 3 A-Level subjects, in some cases a 4th subject may be added. There is also an opportunity to add a non-examined elective subject such as Mandarin in order to help access the programmes of study which we offer at Shanghai Jiao Tong University at the end of the Lower Sixth.

Our Sixth Form teachers are specialists in A-Level. In most cases they only teach Lower and Upper Sixth. Their experience as A-Level Markers and Examiners, and in some cases Principal Examiners, provides an invaluable insight into examination preparation.

Our maximum class size is ten and the timetable, which is specifically designed for sixth form teaching, provides a generous time allocation for each subject which is significantly in excess of the standard model used throughout the HMC.

Our programme of directed learning helps to develop independent study skills and supports the more formal work carried out in the timetable. We utilise the programmes of lectures and talks that are a feature of the higher education institutions, museums and galleries which surround us.
