Summer Holiday Art Programme

Kensington Park School is delighted to announce the launch of a one week Summer Holiday Art Programme in July 2019.  Sabina Jardim, Kensington Park School’s Art teacher, will host a five day summer art programme for local budding young artists, aged 11-13. The course will take place from July 8th to July 12th at KPS Lower School and includes exploring a range of techniques such as acrylic painting, sculpture, etching, mono and lino printing and observational drawing.

Sabina obtained her PGCE in Art and Design from Cambridge University and is also completing an Advanced Diploma in Therapeutic and Educational Application of the Arts. She truly loves teaching and promotes the relationship between art and mindfulness and wellbeing with her students. Apart from being an accomplished art teacher, Sabina is also experienced at running summer programmes, having worked in the London summer camp industry for the past five years.

Course Level: Suitable for ages 11-13 at time of application and open to all skill levels

Course Content and Learning Objectives:

Observational Drawing

  • Students will develop skills in transcribing objects from three dimensions to two as well as drawing from photographs. They will learn how to record light, texture, pattern, angle, and shape using tone, perspective and mark-making in a variety of different media.

Lino printing

  • Students will be introduced to printmakers and different types of prints before having the chance to create their own lino print. They will learn how to design and cut lino before exploring different ways of printing lino including chine cole.

Mono printing

  • Students will be introduced to printmakers and different types of prints before having the chance to create their own mono prints. They will use their skills from observational drawing, mark-making, texture and pattern to create exciting one and two colour mono prints.


  • Students will be introduced to traditional etching techniques and be able to design and print their own etching plate in a more contemporary way. They will learn how to use tools to create etching plates in a safe and fun way.
