Be it a musical or play, scripted or devised, our annual whole school production is an exciting staple in the KPS calendar.

Drama takes centre stage at KPS, and our purpose-built theatre is a thriving hub of activity for the school. Students develop their confidence in performing and enjoy collaborating with peers in Drama Club, which facilitates rehearsals for our whole-school production during the spring term. Whether on stage or behind it, this yearly highlight brings together students from across the creative arts, allowing each individual to contribute on their own merits, building their self-esteem.

Students can audition for an acting role, perform in the orchestra, design the costumes or set, or work on lighting and sound. With a full lighting rig and a state-of-the-art sound system, the theatre is the perfect place for aspiring technicians and stage managers to develop their skills. Our students also take part in regular smaller performances and showcases throughout the year, such as during our annual Arts Week.

Students can take private Speech and Drama lessons with an external professional, working towards LAMDA examinations, and the Drama department regularly arrange for guest speakers and theatre companies to visit the school to enrich students’ learning. As part of their Wednesday afternoon Enrichment programme, Sixth Form students can choose to take part in Public Speaking and Debating, developing the confidence and communication skills required to excel in their future university and careers interviews.

With London’s West End on our doorstep, KPS students are able to expand their theatrical horizons with regular theatre trips throughout the year. From Shakespeare’s Globe to the National Theatre and smaller independent performance venues, a world of live theatre is just a few short tube stops away.
