To celebrate Chinese New Year, KPS curated a week of exciting cultural events across both our Lower School and Sixth Form.
We were joined by the Chinese-language rock band, Transition, who led a songwriting workshop with our music students, and performed a gig in our theatre featuring their viral sensation, “Dui Bu Qi,” a staple of Chinese language courses across the globe.
Our Y7 students were tasked with creating beautiful cut-out decorations in tribute to the Year of the Rabbit, which they took with them to take pride of place in their homes.
Over at our Sixth Form, teachers led an assembly on the history of the festival, outlining the cultural significance behind this year’s Chinese zodiac, The Water Rabbit, and why the celebration remains such an essential aspect of Chinese culture. The assembly also included a series of activities inviting students to practice key Chinese greetings and phrases in exchange for fortune cookies!
To close out the week, staff and students were presented with a Chinese lunch by our in-house catering team, including Char Sui, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Lo Mein, and delicious spring rolls.
On behalf of all of us at Kensington Park School, 新年快乐！
