Our Senior School students kicked off the new academic year with a trip the Barnes Wetlands, taking part in a special learning session built around ecology and ecosystems which students in Years 7 and 8 will be studying throughout this year.

Students perfected their pond dipping and identified the species of the organisms collected. They recorded the temperature and pH of the water in the pond. They also took part in some amateur birdwatching, and were invited to participate in a SciArt competition creating drawings, photos, poems, or video inspired by the trip.

Overall, it was a wonderful way to take advantage of the summer weather and help to break the ice for our new students!
