Joe Donaghue in Year 12 attended the U23 Fencing Competition last Saturday. He fenced well in the direct elimination round, and put up a good fight, but unfortunately was knocked out, losing 15-13. Despite his loss, this competition offered a good opportunity for development. Joe has also now been accepted on the Diploma in Sporting Excellence Development Programme (DiSE) for fencing for 2019-2021, which will give him theoretical as well as practical support for his fencing training. The diploma also gives 32 UCAS points on completion. The course requires 25 days of work and is delivered at weekends/ school holidays. Joe will be attending the first session this weekend Oct 19/20th Oct in Manchester, and we look forward to hearing how Joe gets on.
