KPS climbing students have made remarkable progress over the last five weeks at Westway Climbing Wall. This week, the students started to learn the difficult technique of lead climbing after successfully mastering both bouldering and rope. The lead climber wears a harness attached to a climbing rope, as the climber progresses up the route he/she clips in the rope, thereby leading. Below the climber is belayed by a second climber. The students made an impressive start, skillfully grasping the difficult one handed technique used to clip the rope into the carabina. Next week they will attempt to lead a route.
