Today KPS reflected on and celebrated another fantastic term of academic success and personal achievement at KPS, as the Spring term draws to a close.

This morning's commendation assembly gave our school the opportunity to celebrate the individual achievements of the students as well as the collective ones that KPS as a community has achieved!

Headmaster Mr Middleton his congratulations with the school community, both in the Lower School theatre and via a live broadcast: "Congratulations to all students receiving Headmaster’s Commendations and Award Certificates this term. As much as I would like to give out your certificates personally and shake your hand ‘well done’, current social distancing restrictions does not allow this, so your tutors have your certificates and will hand them out as they are being announced."

The Lower School Headmaster's Commendations were awarded first, before a short break during which Yelisey (Year 9) wowed the audience with his electric guitar performance of Chuck Berry's Johnny Be Good. Yelisey performed the same song in this term's House Music Competition, hugely impressing the judges.

Ms Bunger then reflected on the Spring term at the Sixth Form, before Mr Clarke announced the KPS Year 12's successes at this year's RSC Chemistry Olympiad.

Mr Middleton then continued to award the Spring term Sixth Form Headmaster's Commendations, focusing on those students who had been especially recognised for their academic and personal successes in each subject.

Miss Kallan announced this term's House points leaders- well done Walbrook!

Mr Jackson commended the students whose essays submitted for the Philosophy Essay Writing Competition received 1st, 2nd and 3rd place – well done to all those who took part in this new initiative.

Miss Wallace also congratulated Carlotta (Year 7) for winning this term's Dystopian Writing Competition. Carlotta read an extract from her winning short story, and received her trophy. Well done Carlotta!

Mr Middleton also congratulated Lola (Year 10) for receiving the Drama Award this term, Reinis (Year 11) for receiving the Music Award, and all those who took part in this term's House Music Competition. Fleet House received the most points during this term's Music Competition.

Spring term Sport Awards were also given to the following students…

  • Zhanna
  • Anton
  • Chantal
  • Felix
  • Sebastian
  • Nikolay
  • Sofia and
  • Dylan

The Commendation assembly continued with the announcement that Effra won this term's inter- house Rounders tournament, and the fantastic news that at the end of our Spring term challenge, KPS students, staff & community travelled 3194km and raised £1252 for Refettorio Felix! Well done Effra, and to all our students who raised a tremendous amount of money for our school charity of the year.

Friday's celebrations were closed with a spectacular performance by the KPS Choir of Labi Siffre's 'Something Inside So Strong', streamed live to all our students and parents watching online, as well as shown live in the Lower School theatre. This incredible performance reminds us with its uplifting tone and lyric that we are KPS are still singing!

We hope all our students, teachers and staff are able to enjoy a restful Easter break. KPS looks forward to opening our doors once more for the start of the Summer term in April.
